WBCA Music at the Barns Event: September 18, 4 to 9 p.m. at Wychwood Barns

TORONTO – (September 7, 2021) Reconnect with your St. Clair West friends, neighbours and businesses at a free, COVID-safe, family-oriented evening of music – WBCA’s Music at the Barns – September 18 from 4 to 9 p.m. outside of Artscape Wychwood Barns.

Organized by the Wychwood Barns Community Association (WBCA), the evening will feature four local acts representing a cross-section of musicality. Our community will be entertained by:

  • Pantayo: An all-women kulintang ensemble, Pantayo combines percussive mettalophones and drums from kulintang traditions of the south Philippines with electronic and synth-based grooves;

  • Samba Squad: From its early roots as a community-based drumming group to headlining Salsa on St. Clair, Samba Squad is now one of the most dynamic acts in Canada;

  • Oldies 990!: Rockin’ and rollin’ all around Toronto with their renditions of the Golden Oldies from the 1950s and 1960s; and

  • Daniel Nebiat: An amazingly talented young musician from the state of Eritrea, Daniel is passionate and dedicated to his music and fans.

David Bidini, publisher of West End Phoenix, will keep things running smoothly as the evening’s host. As a founding member of the Rheostatics, Juno nominee Bidini is no stranger to great music.

While the grown-ups are tapping their toes to the music, the kids can meet with children’s entertainer “Bootsy” with her artful and engaging energy with arm painting and balloon animals.

Resident Artists of Artscape Wychwood Barns will host an exhibition of works entitled ‘Abstract Movements’ at the Peter Mackendrick Gallery and Studio 162. Featured artists include: Viv Moore, Kathleen Troy, Jordan Dunlop, Michele Crockett, The Parahumans and Stephanie Cormier.

There will be seating for seniors, but families and friends are invited to bring their own chairs, along with picnic blankets and baskets.

St. Clair Avenue West businesses are excited to participate. The Josie Stern Team is the title sponsor of the event. With their realtor office located on St. Clair West, the Josie Stern Team has been servicing the real estate needs of the community for many years.
